Erika Heslop Martin, also known as Poetess Erika was born in Kingston, Jamaica and has profound experiences in the United States and Canada that have helped to mold her into the lady she is today. She started reciting Louise Bennett poems in primary school and writing poems, essays and short stories in high school. She is a business graduate of the University of Technology and the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean respectively. Writing is her passion and she uses it to glorify God and motivate others. She is the Author of: A Poetic Revelation, The Power of Words, A Poetic Journey, Live, Write and Inspire and Children are like flowers and is currently working on a recipe book. She contributes poetry to the Sunday Gleaner periodically and has published in the Jamaica Observer as well. She presents poetry at a wide variety of events, including the Jamaica Information Service (JIS) and for television and radio. She also judges poetry and talent competitions and mentors upcoming poets and fresh talents. Her books can be found on Amazon and in several bookstores in Jamaica. She is a PTA Past President, a Director of the Jamaican Writers Society, a member of the Association of Jamaican Authors, Poetry Society of Jamaica, JamCopy, WeConnect International, First Vice- President of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Jamaica, an executive member of the Jamaica Customer Service Association , member Women Entrepreneurs Network of the Caribbean, Caribbean Women Honors and Empowerment, the Kencot SDA youth choir ministry and Andrews SDA youth and children’s ministries. She has been a featured poet at Red Bones Blues Café and Bookophilia on several occasions, Independent Voyces, Pacesetters Toastmasters Club and has been featured on Smile Jamaica on TVJ, Insight on JNN, Writers’ Block on PBC and the Love Zone on CVM Television. She has been a guest presenter at the Kiwanis Club of Kingston, a guest speaker at the Rotary Club and has done motivational talks at corporate entities, schools/universities and events across the island.  She reads children’s stories at Bookophilia, churches and schools and is actively involved in the “Read across Jamaica” programme in association with the Jamaica Library Service. She is also an international mentor for the Cherie Blair Foundation for women in business.

Erika Heslop Martin is an Instructor/Lecturer, Business Consultant and an Accountant with over twelve (12) years of professional experience in various capacities. She is also a Creative Entrepreneur and is the CEO of   iWrite International. She believes in inspiring others to live life to the fullest and be the best that they can be. Erika is married with twins and loves spending time with family and friends. She enjoys reading, speaking Spanish, emceeing, voiceovers, singing, dancing, hula hooping, taking pictures, laughing, cooking, organic farming, networking, visiting new and exciting places and most of all poetry.
